Adam Schumacher

Adam Schumacher was born near Bluffton, Ohio, February 2, 1857, a son of P. Schumacher. He was admitted into what is now called St. Johns church, though baptism by Rev. John Moser on April 11, 1879. On May 4, 1882, he entered into matrimony with Sarah, daughter of Chr. welty of this place. He operated the Welty farm for a number of years, later purchasing what is now the Gingrich farm at Silver Hill. Since the sale of this farm the couple moved with the Earl Gerber family onto the Rev. Ira Buchwalter farm northeast of Dalton, where his death occured. His widow, John of Molalla, Ore., David of Pandora, O., Homer of Stanwood, Henry of Canby, Ore., Susan, Mrs. Earl Gerber of Dalton, Mrs. Lydia Immerly of Orrville, several grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his brother Dan and sister, Mrs. Emanuel Kohli, survive him. Elizabeth, Mrs. C. C. Nussbaum and a son, Menno, preceded him in 1928 and 1929, respectively. His age at the time of death was 75 years, 7 months and 24 days. Mr. Scumacher was widely and favorable known for his sterling Christian qualities and will be greatly missed.
