DIETRICH D. SCHULTZ

Diedrich D. Schultz was born in Russia on June 3, 1899, and went to be with the Lord on April 12. As a child he emigrated with his parents to Canada, eventually settling on a farm near Herbert, Sask. They later moved to the Greenfarm, Sask., district. At the age of 17 he saw the need of salvation and accepted Christ. He was baptized and joined the Greenfarm Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1920 he married Sarah Thiessen. The couple farmed near Herbert for many years, and were blessed with seven children. To supplement the family income during the difficult years of the 1930's, Mr. Schultz operated an implement shop and drove trucks. His wife became ill and remained an invalid for many years until her passing in 1950. After a period of loneliness, he married Martha Thiessen. One son was born to them.

Mr. Schultz enjoyed good health most of his life. He recovered from a heart attack in 1963. A stroke in April led to his passing on April 12. Rev. Jacob Pauls officiated at a funeral service, held April 15 in the Herbert Mennonite Brethren Church.

He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Martha; five daughters, Esther (Mrs. Milton) Ewert, Lillian (Mrs. Edgar) Jost, Olga (Mrs. John) Forth, Myrtle (Mrs. John) Viau, and Dorothy (Mrs. Metro) Panchuk; three sons, Ed and his wife Elvira, Irvin and Margaret, and Douglas; 18 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
