MRS. FRED SCHULTZ

Mrs. Lena Thomas Schultz, daughter of Jacob P. and Eva Eck Thomas, was born August 13, 1882, near Moundridge, Kansas. She came to Oklahoma with her parents in 1895 and settled north of Ringwood, Okla., where she lived the rest of her life.

She was baptized upon confession if [sic] her faith in Jesus as her personal Saviour by Elder Johann Ratzlaff on August 15, 1897, and was accepted into the New Hopedale Mennonite church of which she was a loyal member until her death.

On October 9, 1898, she was married to Abraham J. Johnson, with whom she shared joy and sorrow until death took him from her on Nov. 17, 1918. to this union were born six daughters and three sons.

On June 20, 1920, she was married to Fred Schultz, with whom she was permitted to share joy and sorrow for over 27 years. One son was born to this union.

She was always helpful in church work wherever possible. For a number of years she was president of the ladies missionary society. Whenever possible she opened her doors to those that needed care and hospitality. she was also a great lover of flowers, and has brought joy to many with her flowers.

About six years ago her health began to fail, but she was not bedfast for any length of time until the last few weeks. When she became weaker and more difficult to care for, she was taken to a convalescent home in Enid, where the doctor was near. In all of her sufferings she was patient and submitted herself to the will of God. She was conscious almost to the end. At 1:45 a. m. on Feb. 27, 1948, she breathed her last and went to be with her Saviour. She attained the age of 65 years six months and 14 days.

She leaves to mourn her loss her belived [sic] husband; four sons, Henry A. of Enid, Edward and John of Ringwood, Louis of Medford; six daughters, Mrs. Bertha Burtaw of LaMar, Colo., Dena of the home, Mrs. Lydia Dirks of Greensburg, Kansas, Mrs. Almeda Unruh of Lahoma, Mrs. Sadie Jantz of Goltry, and Mrs. Margarett Becker of Meno; and 18 grandchildren besides one who died in infancy.

She also leaves five brothers, John, Cornelius, and Henry of Ringwood, Louis of Moundridge, Kansas, and Daniel of Canton, Kansas; five sisters, Mrs. Eva Eck of Ringwood, Mrs. Lizzie Unruh of Ringwood, and Mrs. Caroline Smith of Newton, Kansas; and many other friends and relatives.

And thus has ended the life of a dear, loving, and devoted sister, wife, and mother. Funeral services took place Sunday afternoon, Feb. 29, 1948 at the New Hopedale Mennonite church, led by the pastor, Rev. A. J. Unruh, with Rev. H. T. Neufeld assisting.
