H. H. SCHULTZ

It has pleased the Lord to remove from this earthly sojourn our beloved father, Henry H. Schultz, Son of the late Henry T. and Anna (Foth) Schultz, he was born on June 10, 1880, at Avon, S. D., and departed from this life on Dec. 31, 1963. He attained the age of 83 years, six months, and 21 days.

Life's pathway began for him in the pioneer days of the new settlement in South Dakota. Bereft of his father before he was born, the struggle for existence was intense in those early days. When about 16 years of age, he and his brother went to the Mt. Lake, Minn. area for schooling and employment.

Here he also met and married our mother, Maria H. Fast. This union began on Nov. 13, 1900, and was terminated on Oct. 4, 1927, when mother was taken from us. This union was blessed with 11 children.

On Sept. 30, 1930, father took a new life companion in the person of Anna Wiebe of Mt. Lake. This marriage bond was dissolved when the Lord called her home on Aug. 19, 1962.

As a youth of 16, he realized his lost spiritual condition and received Christ as his personal Savior. On May 31, 1896 he was baptized on confession of his faith in Christ by Elder Aaron Wall, and received into the fellowship of the E. M. B. (Bruderthaler) Church of Mt. Lake. In 1936 he became a member of the Dallas, Ore. E. M. B. Church, of which he remained a faithful member until his death.

He participated in the various phases of the Lord's work during his lifetime, serving as S. S. superintendent and teacher, and in other positions. He was treasurer of the EMB Conference Home Mission Committee for a number of years.

He was a farmer, spending the major portion of his active years with his family on farms in Minnesota, North Dakota, and ten years in Montana. Severe financial reverses and the economic depression of the early 1930s forced him to give up farming, and in the spring of 1936 the parents moved to Dallas, Oregon. Here he was employed in various jobs, such as carpentering, custodian, day laborer, etc.

Mourning his departure are seven children: Mrs. Aaron Buhler of Mt. Lake, Minn.; Anna Schultz of Salem, Oregon; Mrs. Oswald Jantzen of Dallas, Oregon; David H. Schultz of Dallas; Mrs. C. A. Wall of Langham, Sask.; Rev. Abraham H. Schultz of Richfield, Pa.., Mrs. Curt A. Claassen of Champa, India; four sons-in-law; three daughters-in-law; 29 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one brother, David H. A. Schultz of Enid, Okla.

In addition to those already mentioned, he was preceded in death by four sons, three in infancy and Henry, aged 55; three brothers and one sister. — The Family.
