HENRY A. SCHULTZ

Henry A. Schultz, son of Abe and Eva Schultz, was born Sept. 3, 1881, in McPherson County near Moundridge, Kansas. He passed away at 10:30 P.M. July 11, 1956, at the Bethesda Hospital, Goessel, Kansas at the age of 74 years, 10 months and eight days.

Upon the confession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Saviour he was baptized in July 1906 at the Bell Top School and received into the fellowship of the Friedenstal Mennonite Church. In later years he transferred his membership to the Presbyterian Church in Garden City, later to Roxbury, and when he moved to eastern Kansas, to the Presbyterian Church at Waverly, of which he was a member at the time of his death.

On August 19, 1908, he was united in marriage with Susie Unruh of Durham, Kansas. They had the privilege to live together for 38 years, and then the Lord saw fit to call his help-meet from his side, leaving him a widower for nearly 10 years. This union was blest with four children, one daughter, Laura, and three sons, Irwin, Owen and Wayne, Laura preceded him in death in 1927.

Father was kind and loving and because of his personality gained many friends. He worked at various vocations but for the great part of his active life was employed in the capacity of a lumber salesman. In later years the family moved onto a farm in eastern Colorado, where they met with many hardships. Later they moved to a farm near Durham, Kansas and from there to a farm near Waverly, Kansas. It was during this time that mother passed away.

In 1950 father moved to Scranton, Kansas and due to failing health he was taken to the hospital in Topeka where his condition was described as serious. It was his wish and desire to be taken to the Bethesda Hospital at Goessel, Kansas where he w2ould be nearer his relatives and friends. On June 16he entered this hospital. All possible medical aid was summoned and many prayers were sent to the throne of Grace for his recovery, yet our Heavenly Father in His great love and wisdom had ordained otherwise. After several weeks of intense suffering he was released of the cares of this life. He often assured us of his refuge in God and the peace of soul which was his through a simple trust in Jesus Christ.

He leaves to mourn his departure the children, Irwin and wife Elvina and their four children, Geraldine, Stanley Junior, Rodney and Beverly of Newton, Owen of Topeka and Wayne of Wichita; three sisters, Eva Mrs. Adam Unruh of Hillsboro, Carrie, Mrs. Dan Unruh of Newton, and Matilda, Mrs. August Unruh of Pawnee Rock; one brother, Jake of Fredonia; and many relatives and friends.
