Frau Helena Schultz, Tochter von Johann J. und Aganetha Nikkel Becker, ward am 29. April, 1869 zu Pastwa, Süd-Rußland geboren und starb am 4. März, 1942 im Alter von 72 J. 10 M. und 5 Tagen. 1878 kam sie mit ihren Eltern nach Mt. Lake, Minn. und am 9. Juni, 1889 ward sie getauft von Pred. Aron Wall, und Glied der E. M. B. Gemeinde. Sie half ihrem Vater, der Lehrer und Prediger der Mennonitengemeinde war, in der Leitung einer Bibelschule. Am 14. Juni, 1901 heiratete sie Abr. T. Schultz und sie zogen nach Avon, S. Dak. wo sie fortan wohnte. Ihr Gatte starb am 16. Febr. 1920 und eine Tochter am 30. Dez. 1913. Sie liebte ihre Bibel zu lesen und in ihrem täglichen Leben legte sie Zeugnis für ihren Herrn ab. Ihr täglich Gebet war für die Rettung der Ihrigen. Die Begräbnisfeier fand am 8. März statt. Pred. David A. Schultz, Lodi, Calif., sowie Pred. Albert Schultz, Butterfield, Minn. dienten und Pred. Ed. Dürksen sprach so schöne Worte des Trostes und leitete die Trauerversammlung. Hernach gab es, wie sie es gewünscht, in ihrem Heim noch einen Imbiß. Sonntag vor ihrem Tode konnte sie noch der Andacht beiwohnen und beantwortete auch in der S. S. Fragen. Der Mensch denkt, aber Gott lenkt! Es betrauern ihr Scheiden: 4 Kinder, Frau Anna Steinsland, Truman, Minn.; Jonas, Saginaw, Mich.; Johann, Avon, S. Dak., und Levi, Sioux Falls, S. Dak.; 9 Enkel: Marcus, Loren, Joan, Shirley, Richard, Thomas, Judith Schultz, und Ardell und Curtis Steinsland; 12 Stiefkinder: Tobias, Simon, Fred, Susanna, Katharina, Maria, Aganetha, Sarah, Elisabeth, Peter, Heinrich und David; 6 Brüder: Jakob, David, Peter, Heinrich, Johann und Abraham; 4 Schwestern: Anna, Susie, Sarah und (Name fehlt. Mrs. Helena Schultz

Avon, S. D. — Mrs. Helena Schultz, daughter of John J. Becker and Aganetha Nikkel, was born in Pastiva, Russia, April 29, 1869, passed away, March 4, 1942, being 72 years, 10 months and 5 days.

In the year 1878 she accompanied her parents to America and located near Mt. Lake, Minnesota. She was baptized June 9, 1889, by Rev. Aaron Wall and accepted into the E. M. B. church of Mountain Lake. She assisted her father in teaching Bible School. Her father was a Bible School teacher and minister in the Mennonite church.

She was united in marriage to Abraham T. Schultz, June 14, 1901, at Mt. Lake and came to make her home near Avon, South Dakota where she remained until her death. Her husband passed away February 16, 1920, and a daughter, Martha, December 30, 1913.

The following mourn her passing: four children, Mrs. Anna Stensland, Truman, Minnesota; Jonas, Saginaw, Michigan; John, Avon, South Dakota; and Levi, Sioux Falls, South Dak.; and nine grandchildren, Marcene, Loren, Joan, Shirley, Richard, Thomas, Judith Schultz and Ardell and Curtis Stensland.

Twelve step-children, Tobias, Simon, Fred, Susan, Katherine, Marie, Agatha, Sarah, Elizabeth, Pete, Henry, and David and many step-grandchildren. Six brothers, Jacob, David, Peter, Henry, John and Abraham; four sisters, Anna, Susie, Sarah and Mrs. Mary Warkentin, and other relatives mourn her passing.

Mrs. Schultz loved to read her Bible. She endeavored to live her life as a witness for her Master. She remembered her dear ones in her regular prayers. May God bless her memories until we shall see her in glory.
