WALLY FINCH

Paul Schroeder of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Mar. 8. He was born Jan. 23, 1905 to Henry and Jakobina Schroeder in Novosiad- 10, Poland. In 1925 he was baptized and joined the MB church at Wymyschle, Poland. He married Margarete Jantz Oct. 23, 1932. In 1939 he was inducted into the Polish army as a medic. He soon came home but was later called up as a medic for the German army. In 1946 the family was reunited in Germany. In 1948 they immigrated to Uruguay. He tried farming. They then moved to Montevideo, where they served as deacons and house parents in the MB girls' home. He worked as a bricklayer and Margarete cared for the daily needs of teachers and students at the Bible school. They immigrated to Canada July 3, 1956. He worked at several jobs, including for the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. until retirement. They belonged to Vancouver MB Church, serving as deacons. When Culloden MB Church was built, they transferred there. In 1973 they moved to Clearbrook, joining Clearbrook MB Church. He loved the Lord and taught his children to love and serve God. He is remembered for his prayers of love to God. He enjoyed retirement, recovering from 6 operations. He is mourned by his wife; sons Walter and Herbert; daughter Edith Neufeld; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and 1 sister. John Klassen ministered from Job 19:25-29 at the funeral.
