GERTRUDE SCHROEDER

Mrs. Gertrude Schroeder nee Schellenberg, passed away on December 5, at her home in Swift Current at the age of 82. She was born into a Christian home in Nikapol, Russia on November 26, 1884. She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age and was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren church.

In 1903 she was married to Mr. Isaac Schroeder and emigrated to Canada with him, three weeks later. After a few years in Manitoba, they came to Saskatchewan and homesteaded in the Main Centre area. In 1940 they retired from farming and moved to Herbert. Seven sons and six daughters mourn the loss of a mother who had ministered faithfully to their needs, physically and spiritually. She was predeceased by her husband in 1959, her son William in 1947, and daughter Elizabeth in 1951.

Left to mourn are her sons, John of Chilliwack, B.C., Rev. Arthur of Ronan, Montana, Peter E. of Pambrun, Sask.. Jake of Main Centre, Sask., Victor of Swift Current Sask.; six daughters, Mrs. Mary Penner of Reedley, California, Miss Emma of Swift Current, Mrs. Hulda Brown of Swift Current, Mrs. Lenore Giesbrecht of Waldheim, Sask., Mrs. Laura Peters of Regina, and Mrs. Louella Epp of Regina; forty grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Officiating at the funeral were the brethren H. S. Rempel of Saskatoon and Art Martens of Medicine Hat. Her memory will remain blessed.
