GEORGE T. SCHROEDER

George T. Schroeder of Winkler, Man. passed away June 10. He was born, to John J. and Susanna Schroeder June 15, 1907 in Grossweide, Man. He was baptized in 1929. On Oct. 4, 1931 he married Elizabeth Wiebe of Kronsgart, Man. They moved to Carman, Man., where they farmed. In 1957 they moved to Morden, Man. He had a variety of jobs, but carpentry and woodworking were his specialty. He made doll furniture, lawn swings and desks for the grandchildren. In 1981 they retired to Winkler. He had an avid interest in the Mennonite heritage, had good memories of his childhood and parenting years, loved poetry and .filled reams of paper with lifelike drawings of southern Manitoba animals. His greatest love was his family. Predeceased by his wife July 23, 1988, 4 sisters and 2 brothers, he is mourned by his children Lorance of Winkler, Margaret Janzen of Springstein, Man., Susan Hildebrand of New Westminster, B.C., Deloris Goerzen of Fannystelle, Man., Laura Skeavington of Carman and Edna Clarke and Don of Winnipeg; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. The funeral was June 13 in Winkler MB Church, with Wally Klassen and John G. Froese officiating.
