● Mrs. Mary Schroeder, 81, widow of Abe H. Schroeder, died Saturday at Axtell Christian Hospital here. A former resident of Newton, she had been a guest at the Bethesda Home in Goessel the past three years. She leaves three sons, eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held Wednesday forenoon at the Sister Frieda Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Arnold Epp in charge.

MRS. MARY SCHROEDER
Mrs. Mary Bartel Schroeder, daughter of Gerhardt and Anna Bartel, was born on Jan. 27, 1883, at Hillsboro, Kan., and departed this life on Sept. 19, 1964, at the age of 81 years.
On May 31, 1914, she was baptized upon the confession of her faith in Jesus Christ by Elder Henry Banman and accepted into the fellowship of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. On June 9, 1957, she transferred her membership to the First Mennonite Church in Newton, where she remained a faithful member until her death.
On Dec. 23, 1900, she was united in marriage with Abe H. Schroeder in Lehigh, Kan. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1957.
After making their home on the farm near Canton, Kan. for a number of years they retired to Newton, where they resided for 33 years. Three years ago she disposed of her home in Newton and became a resident of the Bethesda Home for Aged at Goessel, Kan.
She is survived by three sons, Marvin of Kansas City, Kan., Roland of Canton, Kan., and Harold of Manhattan, Kan.; four sisters, Mrs. A. J. Reimer and Mrs. Anna Hergert of Perryton, Texas, Mrs. Ed Wahl of Fairview, Okla., Mrs. Esther Unruh of McPherson, Kan.; three brothers, Ebel Bartel of Fairview, Okla., Solomon Bartel of Shafter, Calif., and Henry Bartel of Balko, Okla.; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
