MRS. MARGARETHA SCHROEDER

Margaretha Unruh Schroeder, daughter of Jacob J. and Marie Schmidt Unruh, was born Feb. 2, 1889 in Marion country, Kansas, near the Tabor Mennonite church.

In her early childhood she attended school in Greenfield and Sandcreek schools and also Bethel college in 1907-8. In her early years she taught many children and also older people in Sunday school in the Tabor church. She also sang in the choirs.

She was baptized upon her confession of faith in Jesus Christ by Rev. Peter Balzer on June 3, 1906, and became a member of the Alexanderwohl church. When the Tabor church was organized she became a member of that church. Later, after her marriage, she transferred her membership back to the Alexanderwohl church in which she retained her membership until her death.

Our mother was united in marriage to John Schroeder on Nov. 24, 1922 by Rev. Peter Richert. This union was blessed by two children, Maria, who died in infancy Aug. 11, 1925, and Rudolf who with his family remains to mourn her passing. When she married our father she became mother to two step-children, Lydia and Herbert Schroeder.

She was a loving mother and always taught us the good way as a Christian mother would. She was a hard worker all her life. She also took great interest in her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.

On Feb. 26, 1954 this union was dissolved by the death of our father. Mother and father shared life's joys and sorrows for 31 years, three months and two days. She had been a widow for six years.

On July 11, 1949 she had a stroke and had been in failing health ever since. In 1954 she entered the Mission Home in Hillsboro and later the Salem Home for the Aged, also in Hillsboro.

She enjoyed to be in the home for the aged where she was taken care of in a loving and devoted way. As long as she could she attended the chapel service in the Home. Her Lord and Saviour called her Home on Feb. 5, 1960. She reached the age of 71 years and two days.

Mother Schroeder leaves to mourn her departure three children, Rudolf and wife Eulalia of Hillsboro, Herbert and wife Bertha of Walton, Lydia and husband Bernard Kasper of Hillsboro; four grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Unruh of Goessel; two brothers, Jacob Unruh and wife Sara of Newton, and Peter and wife Clara of Kansas City, two sisters-in-law, Susie Schroeder of the Bethesda hospital, Goessel, and Mrs. Sara Jansen of Newton; a stepmother, Mrs. Jacob J. Unruh of the Goessel Home for the Aged; four step-brothers and one step-sister, and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Anna and Agnes, and one brother William. — The Bereaved Family.
