— Funeral services took place at the Alexanderwohl church on Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Roland Schroeder, who passed away at her home near Canton on Saturday morning. She was a daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Schroeder of Newton.

MRS. LAURA JEAN SCHROEDER

Laura Jean Finkle Schroeder, daughter of myrtle Blair Finkle and Lee E. Finkle, was born in Partridge, Kansas, June 18, 1907, and died August 23, 1947, at her home near Canton, Kansas, at the age of 40 years, two months and five days.

She graduated from McPherson high school with the Class of 1925, and joined the Baptist Church early in life, which membership she later transferred to the Alexanderwohl church.

On May 21, 1927, she was united in marriage to Roland A. Schroeder. To this union were born two sons and one daughter: Galen, Lawrence, and Arlyn.

Besides her husband, children and mother she leaves two sisters and one brother: Mrs. Madge Myers of Russell, Kansas; Mrs. Sarah Baker of Oklahoma; and Leslie Finkle of Myrtle Creek, Oregon. One sister preceded her in death.

While in good health she was ever industrious and considerate of others' needs, and made for herself an appreciated place in the home and community. She was stricken in December, 1944. She had been in failing health since then, but recently had shown some improvement and her passing was a great shock to her family, friends and relatives. She was called to her heavenly home in her sleep, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Funeral services were in charge of her pastor, Rev. P. A. Wedel, at the Alexanderwohl church on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1947. Rev. Linsted of Goessel spoke at the services at the Bergen Funeral Home.
