DAVID W. SCHROEDER
David W. Schroeder, son of Henry D. and Anna Wiens Schroeder, was born Dec. 30, 1898 at Medford, Okla. His mother died when he was two years old. A few years later his father married Marie Martens and together they instilled in him the faith that later grew to maturity in his life. With his parents he came to the Adams, Okla. community in 1905, residing here the remainder of his life.
As a young man he realized his need of the Saviour and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and Lord. On Nov. 21, 1920 he was baptized and received into the Hooker Mennonite Brethren Church, now located in Adams. He faithfully served the Lord in his church and community until his passing.
On July 27, 1922 he was married to Elizabeth B. Friesen at Hooker by Rev. H. B. Pauls. God blessed this marriage with eight children, four sons and four daughters.
His interests in life centered in his family and the church. He was vitally interested and concerned about his children and grand-children, especially in the area of their spiritual well-being. He faithfully served for many years in the work of the Sunday school as well as other church activities.
After an illness of only a few months, he passed away in the Southwest Medical Center of Liberal, Kan. on Nov. 7, 1967, at the age of 68 years, 10 months, and seven days. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Jacob, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Arnt.
