MRS. P. M. SCHROEDER
Mrs. P. M. (Agnes) Schroeder, daughter of Peter and Sarah Voth Schmidt, was born on Feb. 3, 1891, in Marion county, Kansas.
She received her elementary education in the Emma Valley school district.
On May 15, 1910, she was baptized upon confession of faith in her Redeemer by Rev. Abr. Ratzlaff and received into the Alexanderwohl Mennonite church where she retained her membership until her death.
She was united in marriage Dec. 19, 1914. To this union were born five children. The duration of this marriage was 38 years and five months.
The departed enjoyed normal good health most of her life. In the last few years of her life ill-health became apparent and she suffered a great deal. She was taken to the hospital at Goessel, and later also found it necessary to be taken to the Axtell Christian hospital where every possible medical care was given her. She passed away on May 19, 1953 reaching the age of 62 years, three months, and 16 days.
In her closing days of life she prayed much for her redemption from the pains that she endured, and continually prayed for her family and friends. She repeatedly expressed her desire that all of her family meet her in that glorious home which the Lord Jesus has prepared for all those who believe in Him and accept Him as their personal Saviour. Realizing that the end was near, she made ready for death.
She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, P. M. Schroeder, of the home, Route 2, Newton; Dora, Mrs. Sam Schmidt, Route 2, Newton; Verna, Mrs. Marion Portlock, Newton; Ewald and John of North Newton, Anton of the home; five grandchildren; seven brothers, Will Schmidt of Hooker, Okla., Dan Schmidt of rural route, Newton, Carl Schmidt of Hesston, John Schmidt of rural route, Newton, Albert Schmidt of Hillsboro, and Alvin and Edward Schmidt of Newton, and one sister, Mrs. Arthur Bergman of Wichita, Kansas, and many relatives and friends.
