Mother and Three Children Killed in Illinois Crash

Buffalo, Mo. — The Pleasant View Amish Mennonite congregation here was saddened by the tragic highway crash in Illinois that claimed the lives of four members of the Clarence Schrock family of this place.

Dead are Mrs. Schrock, 34, and the three youngest children — Roy Eldon, 5, Luanne Marie, 3, and Twila Jane, 18 months. The largely attended funeral was held at the church here May 9.

Mr. Schrock suffered multiple fractures in the crash, his son Cecil has fractures of a leg and collar bone, and another son Allen Dale, 7, escaped with a fractured collar bone. The father and oldest son are in traction in the Canton, Ill. hospital.

Mrs. Schrock was the former Ruby Jane Kempf. The family was en route to Tampico, Ill. to attend the wedding of her sister when their car was involved in a head-on crash near Canton. The Eldon Kempf and Orval Kempf families were in cars just ahead of the crash scene, but escaped injury.
