NORMAN SCHROCK

Norman, son of Jonas and Catherine (Kemp) Schrock, was born in Somerset county, Pa., Jan. 26, 1891. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Daniel Hoylman, on April 11, 1953, at the age of 62 years, 2 months, and 15 days. For the past five years he had experienced failing health, and last November he was taken with a kidney infection which developed into dropsy, the direct cause of his death.

In his youth, he united with the Glade Mennonite church at Accident, Maryland. At the age of 17 he came to Iowa where he was married Dec. 24, 1911, to Ida Yoder, daughter of Jacob Y. and Annie (Swartzendruber) Yoder. His companion preceeded [sic] him in death on July 13, 1933. To this union were born three children— Cleland of Parnell, Vina (Mrs. Daniel Hoylman) of Oxford, and Howard of Oxford.

In addition to the three children and 12 grandchildren, he is survived by six brothers: Louis of Sarasota, Florida; Alvin of Salisbury, Pa.; Asa of Accident, Maryland; Will of Almyra, Arkansas; Elmer of Kalona, Iowa; and Lyman of Baltimore, Maryland; and 3 sisters: Annie, (Mrs. Dan Beitzel) and Ameliea (Mrs. Ernest Brenneman) of Accident, Maryland; and Ada (Mrs. Ernest Bowser) of Grantsville, Maryland. He was preceded in death, by two brothers, Ervin and Lloyd, a sister, Effie, and an infant sister.

His entire married life was spent on the farm now occupied by his son Cleland, and his church home was with the West Union congregation, where he was a faithful member.
