ABRAHAM SCHOWALTER

Abraham Schowalter was born on October 10, 1891 in Bavaria, Germany, the son of the late John J. and Lena (Funk) Schowalter. The family moved to the United States in July 1899, and Mr. Schowalter attended public school at Wisner, Nebraska.

Mr. Schowlater was baptized on August 2, 1908 and became a member of the Salem Mennonite church, Wisner, Neb. He joined the fellowship of the Beatrice Mennonite church on April 1, 1934, shortly after he moved to this community. He made this vicinity his home until the time of his death.

Mr. Schowalter passed away unexpectedly in a Lincoln hospital after a short illness, on August 1, 1955.

He leaves to mourn his passing three brothers, John W. Schwalter [sic Schowalter], Butte, Neb., Herman Schowalter, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Edward Schowalter, Anaconda, Montana; and five sisters, Mrs. Louise Zeleny, Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Mary Kemper, Stanton, Neb., Miss Barbara Schowalter, Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Ann Mueller, Bell, Calif., and Mrs. Tena Stauffer, Denver, Colorado, and a host of other relatives and friends.
