Aged Halstead Community Resident Called by Death
Phillip Schmutz, one of the oldest settlers in the Halstead community, died at the home of his brother, Fred Schmutz, Wednesday evening, April 1. Mr. Schmutz reached the age of 84 years, 52 of which were spent in the Halstead neighborhood. He had been in ill health for a number of years.
Funeral services were held at the Halstead Mennonite church last Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. H. Langenwalter of Wichita. A brother, Fred Schmutz, and two nephews, Ed and Sam Langenwalter, survive.
