&#8212; Word was received here that Otto E. Schmidt, 67, died May 3 at Pawnee Rock. A native of the Whitewater community, he had farmed near Pawnee Rock for 44 years. He was a deacon of the Bergthal Mennonite Church, where the funeral was conducted Friday afternoon by Rev. Gary Stenson, the pastor, assisted by Rev. Victor Sawatzky of Newton, Rev. Roger Siebert of Inman, and Rev. Gary Harms of Burns. Survivors include his widow, Malinda, and a sister, Mrs. Albert Harms of Whitewater.
