&bull; Mrs. Helen R. Schmidt, 78, a lifelong resident of the Goessel community, died early Monday morning at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. She was a member of the Alexanderwohl Church, where the funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Ronald Krehbiel, the pastor. Mrs. Schmidt, the former Helen R. Janzen, married William Reimer in 1917 and they lived on a farm near Goessel. Mr. Reimer died in 1948. In 1958 she married John F Schmidt, and he died in 1963. She worked as a cook at the Bethel Home for Aged in Newton and the Bethesda Home at Goessel. Surviving are a son, Raymond Reimer of Newton; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Chase of Newton and Mrs. Willard J. Schmidt of Route 2, Newton; one brother, George Janzen of Hillsboro; two sisters, Mrs. David Unruh of Hillsboro and Mrs. Jake Ratzlaff of Route 2, Hillsboro; and 11 grandchildren.

• Mrs. Helen R. Schmidt, 78, a lifelong resident of the Goessel community, died early Monday morning at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. She was a member of the Alexanderwohl Church, where the funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Ronald Krehbiel, the pastor. Mrs. Schmidt, the former Helen R.
