MRS. PAULINE SCHMIDT

Pauline Javorsky Schmidt was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Javorsky in Russian Poland on Feb. 3, 1882. Death came to her on August 25, 1955, at 5;15 p.m. in her home in Cordell, Okla. She had reached the age o 73 years, six months and 22 days.

Mother was saved at the age of 14 and was baptized at the age of 15 by Elder Peter Ratslaff, and was received into the fellowship of the Mennonite Brethren Church while yet in Poland.

Upon the answer of earnest prayer she decided to migrate from Poland to the United States. She arrived in Hillsboro, Kansas, about 1898. In 1903 she decided to visit Oklahoma. She had planned to go to California but instead felt that the Lord needed her in Oklahoma.

On January 24, 1904, she was united in marriage to Peter J. Schmidt, and accepted the responsibility and care for her husband's six motherless children. In the same year they experienced a tragedy when lightning struck their home and four of the children died in the flames because of no possibility of rescue. Rudolf and Donnie were the only children left.

To this union were born 14 children, seven sons and seven daughters. Five sons preceded her in death in infancy, and on May 2, 1941, her husband also preceeded [sic] her in death.

In 1944 mother decided to move to Cordell, Okla. to retire. She purchased a home and resided there with her daughter lulu, who stayed with her for some time, and Esther, who lived with her and cared for her until her death.

She leaves to mourn her departure eight daughters, Ella Mrs. August Brandmer, San Bernadino [sic San Bernardino], Calif., Matilda Schmidt, Oklahoma City, Okla., Esther Schmidt, Cordell, Okla., Nora Mrs. Henry Kliewer, Bessie, Okla., Carolina, Mrs. Ernest F. Schmidt, Pampa, Texas, Elizabeth, Mrs. Menno Heinrichs, Colony, Okla., Lulu, Mrs. Edward Penner, Salix, Iowa, Donnie, Mrs. Ted Ihle, Clinton, Okla.; three sons, Peter Schmidt, Cordell, Okla., Arthur J. Schmidt, Riverside, Calif., Rudolf Schmidt, Owego, New York; one sister, Mrs. Charlie Fisher, Kiowa, Kansas; 13 grand children, and eight great-grand children.

She loved and read her Bible and her prayer was that all her children might be saved. Her prayer was answered as all her children have made a profession of salvation. In her life's journey Mother found the Lord to be her Shepherd. The bereaved family
