text of obituary:
MRS. DANIEL F. SCHMIDT, nee Gaeddert, was born in Washita County, Okla. June 30, 1904. Her parents were Henry and Mrs. Corline Gorshing Gaeddert. When she was six years old she lost her mother by death. Later her Father moved to Thomas county Kansas with his two children and bought a farm there. April 8, 1920, she came to the Jacob Unruh home near Goessel, Kans., where she remained for a time. While she was there, she attended the Catechism class of the Alexanderwohl Church and, upon the confession of her faith in Jesus as her personal Savior, she was baptized June 25, 1922. At that time she joined the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, of which she was a member at the time of her death. She married Daniel F. Schmidt Sept. 19, 1926. This union was blessed with 3 sons and one daughter.
The third of October she complained of a sore throat. On the fifth a doctor was consulted and on Sunday the 8th her condition became very alarming. She received her last treatment from the doctor at about 10 p. m. Sunday night and at 2:20 a. m. she quietly passed away, at the age of 35 years, 3 months and 19 days. She lived in the state of matrimony 13 years and 19 days. Before she became unconscious, she comitted [sic] herself in prayer into the trust of her Savior, and expressed her desire to be buried in the Alexanderwohl cemetery. She is now at home with the Lord.
She leaves to mourn her early departure: her husband, Daniel F. Schmidt; the children, Louis, Oswald, Dennis and Delmar; her father Henry Gaeddert and the family of her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Will Gaeddert, her husband’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob R. F. Schmidt and family. Funeral services were held in the Alexanderwohl Church, Thursday afternoon, October 12. Rev. J. H. Epp spoke on “Behold, what manner of Love the Father hath bestowed upon us that we should be called the sons of God.” Rev. P. H. Unruh spoke comforting words based on John 14,1-3. The bodily remains were laid to rest in the Alexanderwohl cemetary [sic].
