She attended Bethel College, North Newton, Kan., from 1928 to 1930. In 1929 she was baptized at Bethel College Mennonite Church by H. A. Fast. She returned to Henderson to teach in the rural schools for 10 years.
She married Theodore Schmidt on June 16, 1935, at Bethesda Mennonite Church of Henderson. They joined the Bethesda church. They lived on a farm near Henderson, where their daughter, R. Ministers, church members and friends were always welcomed in their home.
In 1943-46 they helped at Bethel College Academy. After the academy closed, they returned to Henderson to work in the community and to farm. In 1964 they returned to Newton. Theodore worked for Mennonite Central Committee, and Marie helped in the Bethel College dining hall. They joined Faith Mennonite Church and helped in the Sunday school and mission society. In 1985 Ted and Marie celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Survivors include her husband, Theodore, of Hesston; a daughter, R. Sara Glick of Tacoma, Wash.; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
