HENRY H. SCHMIDT

Henry Schmidt was born at Loretta, South Dekotal, on April 16, 1887 and spent his early years there. With his parents he migrated to Canada in 1901 settling near Rosthern, Sask. A few years later he moved onto his own homestead in Warman Municipality in which area he farmed until 1952.

He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour during revival services conducted by George Schultz in 1911. In the same year he was baptized and received into the Salem KMB Church. In 1912 he was married to Katharina, Quiring and at that time transferred his membership to the Dalmeny MB Church. The Lord blessed their marriage giving them 53 years together and bringing into their lives seven children, one son passing away in infancy.

The Lord used the family of brother and sister Schmidt, three of the children serving in missions in China, Hong Kong, Formosa, the Philippines and India. He himse,lf loved the fellowship of God's people, prayer and the study of God's Word, committing many portions to memory.

On September 26 he passed away in Saskatoon after a short illness. He is survived by his wife Katharina; four sons and their families, John of Dalmeny, Ernest of Fresno, California, David of Hong Kong, Edwin of Dunnville, Ontario; two daughters, (Mrs.) Florence Erickson of Vancouver and (Mrs.) Elizabeth Sawatzky of Margo, Sask.; and 19 grandchildren.
