ESTHER MARIE SCHMIDT

Esther Marie (Janzen) Schmidt was born in Hamilton County, Kansas on Oct. 29, 1913, and was transplanted to her heavenly home on July 18, 1965, at the age of 51 years and eight months.

She moved with her parents from Hamilton County to Inola, Okla., from Inola to Medford, Okla. and later moved to Buhler, Kan. Here she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour, was baptized and received as a member into the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church. Later she transferred her membership to the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church.

After her marriage to Irvin Schmidt on May 5, 1940, they moved to Kalvesta, Kan. where they helped establish the Nazarene Church, and in 1951 she transferred her membership to the Nazarene Church at Larned, where she was a faithful member. She taught Sunday school for many years and was much interested in mission work among the Indians.

To this union were born a son, Paul Wayne, and a daughter, Helen Elizabeth. Both preceded her in death in infancy. Her sister Martha, Mrs. Curt L. Regehr, also preceded her in death in 1949.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Irvin Schmidt; three adopted children, Dean Schmidt and wife Erlene and two children of Cheney, Kan., Vernita Weiszbrod and two children of Denton, Texas, and Don Schmidt of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Janzen of Buhler; three brothers, Frank P. Janzen of Buhler, John A. Janzen of Hutchinson, Kan. and Herman W. Janzen of Topeka, Kan.

She was a loving wife and mother, caring for the physical and spiritual needs of her family, by whom she will be greatly missed. She believed fully in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and was always ready to help others to accept him as Lord. The Nazarene Church of Larned of which she was a member at the time of her sudden death will also miss her very much, but we grant her her rest. — The Bereaved Family.
