NOTED MUSICIAN IN CANADA CALLED AWAY IN DEATH. SEPT. 16

Winnipeg, Man. — Bruno Schmidt, an accomplished cellist, music teacher and director, died in the King Edward hospital here Sept. 16 after a lengthy illness.

As long as his health permitted, he held the position of first cellist in the violin-cello section of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and was also heard frequently on radio broadcasts.

Born in Russia, he received his musical training in the Moscow conservatory and later studied also in Germany. He emigrated to Canada in 1923.

Funeral services were held in the Schoenwiese Mennonite church here
