BETTY JOAN SCHMIDT

Baby Betty Joan Schmidt, twin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schmidt of Walton, Kansas was born May 11, 1945, and passed away June 8 at 11:35 p. m., reaching the age of four week. Although she was in fair health, we noticed her turn pale Friday, June 8. She was rushed to the hospital where she passed away after an illness of only four hours.

She added much sunshine to our home, but it was the Lord's will to take her home to fill a vacant place in his garden of rosebuds yonder. We weep, but not as those that have no hope for we are assured she sweetly sleeps, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."

She leaves her sorrowing parents, a twin brother, Bobby Gene, a sister, Janice Eileen, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. The funeral services were held Sunday, June 10, at the Tabor Mennonite church, conducted by Rev. H. B. Schmidt. Appropriate hymns were sung by a ladies' quartet composed of Norma Schmidt, Helen Schmidt, Helen Voth and Wilma Unruh.

Uncles of the departed one were pallbearers, namely, Herman Schmidt, Abe Schmidt, Frank Hiebert and Henry Hiebert. Interment was made in the church cemetery, with Bergen and Son in charge.

Jesus has taken a beautiful bud,
Out of our garden of love,
Borne it away to the city of god,
Home of the angels above.

Full blooming flowers alone will not do.
Some must be young and ungrown,
So the frail buds, He is gathering too,
Beautiful gems for His throne.

Blooming in beauty in Heaven are they,
Blooming for you and for me.
Follow the Lord, though the city be far
Till our bright blossoms we see.
