Abraham Schmidt

Reedley, California, Oct. 16. — Funeral services for the late Abraham Schmidt were conducted from the Mennonite brethren Church Monday afternoon. The services at the church were conducted by J. H. Richert and D. C. Eitzen, and were attended by a large number of sympathizing friends. All of the children were present at the last rites except Henry Schmidt and Mrs. Voth.

The pall bearers were five sons of the deceased and J. J. Hiebert. Music for the service was provided by a male quartet composed of Messers. Unruh, Friesen, Sperling and Schellenberg.

Abraham Schmidt was aged 78 years, and a native of Russia, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. J. Hiebert, south of Reedley, Wednesday. He had been ill but a short time. For the past ten years he had been a resident of this city and was well known to a large number of people. He formerly resided in Oklahoma. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. P. I. Karber of Shafter, Mrs. J. J. Hiebert of Reedley, Mrs. J. A. Voth of Oklahoma, Rev. A. A. Schmidt of Minnesota, John and Jake Schmidt of Oklahoma, Peter Schmidt of Shafter, Henry Schmidt of Texas, and Nick Schmidt of Oakland, and 26 grand children and one great-grandchild. — Reedley Exponent.
