Arizona Young Man Fatally Injured in Traffic Accident

Phoenix, Ariz. — A traffic accident here on Nov. 14 claimed the life of John Schlabach, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Schlabach.

The young man, who was married here last May to Sharon Jantzi, was returning home from work by motorcycle when a truck pulled out in front of him from a side street. He tried to miss the truck, but his leg caught on the rear bumper and he was thrown into the opposite lane of traffic, where he was hit by two cars. He died in the hospital the same evening without regaining consciousness.

The funeral service, which was largely attended, took place Nov. 16 at the Sunnyslope Mennonite Church.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA
December 9, 1974

Our community was saddened by the death of John Schlabach on Nov. 14. He was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident on his way home from work and died several hours later. He leaves his bride of six months, Sharon Jantzi Schlabach; his parents, Drs. Abe and Lelia Schlabach; his sister, Gretchen; and his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Henry Esch. He would have reached his 21st birthday in one month. The high regard of his friends was evidenced in the overflow crowd attending funeral services at Sunnyslope on Nov. 16, with David Mann officiating. — Elsie Bachman.
