Shipshewana, Ind. — Funeral services for Ernest L. Schlabach, 21, who was instantly killed in a one-car accident on U. S. 20 near here, were conducted March 4 at the Forks Mennonite Church near Middlebury.
The young man, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Schlabach of Route 2, Bristol, was traveling alone in his late-model convertible early Sunday morning when the vehicle left the highway and struck a tree. It is thought he may have gone to sleep at the wheel.
The Schlabach family formerly resided in this community. Ernest had been employed as a truck driver by Nickles Bakery in Goshen.
Surviving in addition to the parents are four sisters and three brothers, and his grandfather, Jacob S. Schlabach of Route 2, Topeka.
