text of obituary:

WILLIE T. SCHIERLING

Willie T. Schierling was born to Abraham and Katherine Toews Schierling on Aug. 11,1899 near Inman, Kan. The Lord called him to his eternal rest and reward on Nov. 22 at 12:40 a.m., at the age of 65 years, four months and 11 days.

While yet in his teens he realized his need of salvation and accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour. Upon confession of faith in Jesus Christ he was baptized and affiliated with the Zoar K. M. B. Church, Inman, Kan., on June 18, 1916 and later transferred his membership to the Koerner Heights Gospel M. B. Church, Newton, Kan. He loved the Lord and practiced His presence. He had a special love for the Word of God and spent much time reading and studying it. He was an example of the believer in word, in conversation and in charity.

He was united with Susie Thiessen in holy matrimony on Sept. 26, 1920. We made our home in Inman, Kan. and later resided in various areas of the state. We have lived in Harvey County for the past 30 years, of which the last five have been spent in Newton. Together we have shared over 44 years of joys and sorrows. By occupation he was a farmer.

About six years ago he showed the first signs of Parkinson's disease. On Feb. 9, 1964 he entered the Kansas University Medical Center for brain surgery, which was considered successful. He re-entered the K. U. Medical Center on Oct. 25 of this year and submitted to the second surgery on Oct. 28, from which he did not recover. He was transferred from Kansas City on Nov. 15 to the Axtell Christian Hospital in Newton. He passed away early Sunday morning, Nov. 22.

He leaves to mourn, his beloved wife, Susie; one son, Eldon and wife Elizabeth, of Lyons, Kan.; three daughters, Ida and husband Bill Neufeld; Elma and husband Arnold Ensz of Whitewater, and Adeline and husband Walt Friesen of Inman; 15 grandchildren; five brothers, George of Newton, Abe, Ben, and John of Inman, and Dave of Torrington, Wyo.; three sisters, Anna, Mrs. Ben Esau, Kathryn, Mrs. H. B. Thiessen, and Elizabeth, Mrs. C. H. Thiessen, all of Inman; and many relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were one son, Menno, who died at birth, his parents, and one brother, Herb.

By faith, we look confidently to the time when we shall be reunited, whether by death or by the Lord's return. — The Family. 26
