MRS. ANNA SCHIERLING

On November 13, 1877 Anna Schierling was born in the Crimea, Russia to Kornelius and Elisabeth (nee Ens) Sperling. In 1911, through the ministry of Franz Wiens, missionary to China, the Holy Spirit convicted her of her lost state. Jesus became her personal Redeemer and she became a very happy child of God. On September 18, 1911 she was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church.

She married Abraham J. Schierling on September 20, 1911 and they were blessed with eight children, five of whom went to be with the Lord in infancy.

In 1929 they immigrated to Canada, via Germany, settling first in Saskatchewan. Due to crop failures they were compelled to look for some other place where living conditions were not as acute, so they moved to Alberta, where they farmed until 1944. From there they moved to B .C., living first in Yarrow, then in Vancouver and finally in Clearbrook. Here, on July 14, 1966 Mr. Schierling passed away.

In 1967 Mrs. Schierling moved into the Tabor Home; in 1973 into the Eden Rest Home in Chilliwack. On February 23 the· Lord took her home. She leaves to mourn her sons Abraham of Grande Prairie and Cornelius of Warburg, Alta., a daughter Anne, and their families, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
