AGED MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER OF ILLINOIS COMMUNITY DIED

Metamora, Ill. — Mrs. Bena Schertz, 84, wife of David H. Schertz and life-long resident of this area, died at the Eureka hospital Aug. 23. She was born near Metamora on Nov. 30, 1867, and was married to Mr. Schertz on Feb. 20, 1889.

Funeral services were held Aug. 26 at the Roanoke Mennonite church, of which she was a member. Rev. Ezra Yordy, pastor of the church, and Rev. Harry Yoder, pastor of the Calvary Mennonite church, Washington, were in charge.

In addition to her husband, she leaves three sons, Raymond and Chris, both of Washington, and E. E. of Eureka; two daughters, Mrs. Matilda Ulrich and Mrs. Esther Harnish, both of Eureka; and one sister, Mrs. Katie Schrock of Lowpoint, as well as 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
