700 Attend Funeral In Two Churches

Kleefeld, Man. — It was estimated that nearly 700 persons attended funeral services here Feb. 13 for John R. Schellenberg, 75, well-known Kleefeld storekeeper who died while making a grocery delivery in Steinbach Feb. 9.

The services were conducted in the Kleefeld Evangelical Mennonite Church, of which he was a member, and another congregation also listened by means of a loudspeaker connection to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.

Mr. Schellenberg had been in the grocery business here for 36 years. He was in partnership with his son, Levi Schellenberg, for a number of years. Four years ago he sold the remaining interest to his son, but continued to work in the store, which is known as the J. R,. Schellenberg and Son store.
