(MRS.) EVA SAWATSKY

(Mrs.) Eva Sawatsky (nee Funk) was born on August 11, 1903 on a farm near Hague, Saskatchewan. After accepting the Lord as her personal Saviour at the age of 11, she was baptized two years later by Rev. David Dyck and received into the Brotherfield (5ask.) Mennonite Brethren Church. She remained a faithful church member and follower of her Lord to the end of her life. She married George Sawatsky in 1924, and the couple farmed in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan for the next 19 years. They then moved to Yarrow, B.C. Their 50th wedding anniversary in 1974 was a long anticipated and joyous celebration.

Mrs. Sawatsky never fully recovered from an operation in 1974, and she passed away to be with her Lord on January 14, 1976. She was predeceased by her parents, four sisters, and her only brother.

Pastor Abe Klassen officiated at a funeral service on January 19 in the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church.

She leaves to mourn her beloved husband, George; four daughters, Laura (Mrs. M.) Effa of Phoenix, Arizona, Susan (Mrs. D.) Sperling of Abbotsford, B.C., Frances (Mrs. G.) Harder of Outlook, Sask., and Evangeline, (Mrs. K.) Scarrow of Langley, B.C.; 10 grandchildren; and two sisters, (Mrs.) Annie Sawatsky and (Mrs.) Agatha Peters.
