Business Man Dies At Reedley, Calif.

Reedley, Calif. — Funeral services for Rudolph H. Ruth,77, well known business man here, were held at the First Mennonite Church on April 19, Rev. Aaron Epp officiating.

Mr. Ruth was part owner of the Reedley Lumber Company and the Parlier Lumber Company of which he was secretary and president, respectively. a native of Illinois, he had lived here for 46 years.

Surviving are three brothers, Arthur D. Ruth and Paul E. Ruth of Reedley, and Dan Ruth of Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Ed Dettweiler of Reedley and Emma Ruth of India.

RUDOLPH HENRY RUTH

Rudolph Henry Ruth of Reedley, Calif., son of John A. and Clara Eymann Ruth, was born Oct. 2, 1883 at Summerfield, Ill.

As an infant he moved with his parents to Halstead, Kan. and lived in that general area until 1915 when the family moved to Reedley.

On Nov. 26, 1899 he was baptized upon his confession of faith that Jesus Christ was his Saviour and that in Him he had eternal life, Rev. S. S. Baumgartner officiating. He became a member of the Garden Township Mennonite Church, Halstead, Kan.

In Reedley he joined the First Mennonite Church where he was a faithful member unitl [sic] his death. He was very much interested in the church. He was faithful to the Sunday school class and men's chorus and also served as church treasurer for a number of years.

He had been a farmer while in Kansas, but in Reedley entered the lumber business in which he was active until his death.

It was not his privilege to be married, but he enjoyed his family relationships very much. He was a great lover of music and attended concerts whenever possible. It was his privilege to help many people with their financial problems.

His health had not been the best in later years but improved in the last years so that he was able to be about his work and enjoy life. He became ill about a month ago and spent some time in the hospital, but came to his home for a few days where he died Sunday afternoon, April 16, 1961.

His life will continue to be cherished by his three brothers, Arthur D. and Paul E. of Reedley, and Dan of Larned, Kan.; two sisters, Stella, Mrs. Edward A. Dettweiler of Reedley, and Emma, a missionary teacher at Landour, India; 19 nieces and nephews, and many friends.
