text of obituary:

KATHRYN M. RUTH

Kathryn, daughter of Henry and Frieda Baer Ruth, was born near New Baden, Ill. on Feb. 18, 1926. She entered into rest on March 10, 1956, at the age of thirty years and 21 days. Her death followed an extended illness.

She was brought to the church regularly as a child and learned to love the church. She was baptized upon the confession of her faith in Christ and received into the fellowship of the Summerfield Mennonite Church by Rev. Elmer Basinger on June 23, 1940. She was an active worker in the Sunday School, young people's and all church activities. She was deeply interested in the music activity of the church. She was endowed with marked ability for church work and so willing used her God-given ability. She loved to work with the children and the children loved her.

She attended her home public school and graduated from the Mascoutah High school. She prepared herself for teaching the public schools and for several years taught her home school. She then attended McKendree College in Lebanon, Ill. and graduated with the class of 1950 with high honors. She taught in Gibson City, Ill. and for one year in the Mascoutah-Scott school. She was then obliged to discontinue her teaching work because of seriously affected eyesight and illness.

She is survived by her parents and one sister, Marian, a number of uncles and aunts and a large circle of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted in the Meyer Funeral Home in Lebanon on Monday, March 12, at eleven o'clock by Rev. A. S. Bechtel, a former pastor of the Summerfield Church. The sermon meditation was given by Walter Neufeld, who was the student supply pastor during last summer. Burial was made in the Summerfield cemetery. The pall bearers were five first cousins and the husband of another first cousin.

"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth and their works do follow them."
