Sarah Lauretta Royer

Sarah Lauretta Royer was born in Ashland county, Ohio, November 18, 1848, and died at her home four miles northwest of Newton, Kansas, on October 25, 1927, aged 78 years, 11 months, 15 days.

When a child she moved with her parents to Wisconsin where she grew into womanhood. In 1877, she with her mother and brother George moved to Kansas, settling northwest of Newton where D. D. Zook now lives. They moved to Granada, Colo., where her mother and brother George died. After their death, she with her sister-in-law, Mrs. George Royer and children, Howard and Jennie moved back to Harvey County, settling on the farm formerly owned by Mr. Woodburn. At this place they have lived ever since.

Miss Royer was never married and is the last to pass away of her immediate family. Her sister-in-law and son Howard are still living on the place where she died, but Jennie, married to Fern Faulkner, lives at Valier, Mont., and because of the distance could not be present far [sic] the funeral. The funeral was held at the Pennsylvania Mennonite church near Zimmerdale, on Friday afternoon. The interment took place in the adjoining cemetery. She has been a consistent member of the Mennonite church since 1896. — Hesston Gazette.
