ANNA NEUSTADTER ROSENFELD

Mrs. Anna Neustadter Rosenfeld, a daughter of the late Gerhard and Agnes Fast Neustadter, was born on Nov. 4, 1897 in the Crimea, Russia. During her early years she also resided in Siberia before immigrating to Germany in 1920. While in Russia, upon confession of faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior she was baptized and joined the Alexandewohl Church.

Before her immigration to the United States in 1923 she served as a Deaconess in various places in Germany. Upon arrival in the United States she settled in the Lancaster County area of Pennsylvania where she resided for the remainder of her life and became a naturalized citizen.

In November of 1924 she was united in marriage to Harry H. Rosenfeld. They lived on several different farms in Lancaster County before they purchased their own farm west of Salunga, where they resided from 1937 to 1957. Both she and her husband were charter members of the Bethel Mennonite Church of Lancaster where they maintained an active interest and concern for the church.

In August of 1952 her husband met an untimely death when he was struck by lightning and killed instantly. In early 1960 her health began to fail due to the illness of leukemia. She was able to maintain her own home until July when she moved to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Schroeder of Akron, where she quietly departed this life on Christmas morning. She reached the age of 63 years, one month, and 21days.

Surviving are these sons and daughters: Elizabeth, Mrs. Donald E. Dillard of Miami, Fla.; John N. and wife Janet of Manheim, Pa.; Tina, Mrs. Milan Mike Milich of Pensauchen [sic Pensauken], N. J.; Anna, Mrs. Millard George Fitzkee of Mount Joy, Pa.; Henry N. and wife Lois of Lancaster, Pa.; Mary, Mrs. Vernon Edgar Schroeder of Akron, Pa.; and Agnes, Mrs. Ray K. Hacker of West Chester, Pa. Two daughters, Agnes, who died in 1932, and Helen, who died in infancy in 1939, preceded her in death. She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters. They are Gerhard Neustadter of Holtwood, Pa.; John Neustadter of Lancaster, Pa.; Mrs. Herman (Agnes) Schapansky of Cochranville, Pa.; and Mrs. Herman (Tina) Gebhart of West Germany.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 29 in the Bethel Mennonite Church in Lancaster, Pa. Rev. Ward W. Shelly officiated at the service. Burial was in the East Petersburg Mennonite cemetery.
