Birth date: 1871
text of obituary:
DAYTON, VIRGINIA
Funeral services were held Oct. 3 at Mellingers church, Lancaster, Pa., for Daniel H. Rohrer, 82, and were attended by many of his nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews from here. He had just returned to his home at Lancaster about two weeks earlier, after visiting relatives here before the tragic accident that took his life almost instantly Sept. 29. He was crossing the highways for his mail and had paused for one auto to pass and did not notice the car approaching from the opposite direction, being deaf since childhood.
He was very alert for his advanced years, and seldom complained of his handicap. His unusual personality and his consistant[sic] Christian life endeared him to his many deaf friends and to all with whom he mingled in his useful life. A son, Israel Rohrer, and daughter Mrs. Esther Groff, several grandchildren and a sister, Mattie Rohrer of Dayton remain as closest relatives. His wife, who was Miss Lydia Dellinger, also a deaf-mute, preceded him in death. He was a faithful member and regular attendant of the Mennonite church as long as he lived.
Memorial services and burial were held Oct. 22 at the E. U. B. church in Dayton for Jonathan Branner Heatwole, 95, with a large numbers of relatives and friends attending. One of the oldest Heatwoles in the valley here, he was a son of the late Peter O. and Elizabeth Rhodes Heatwole, one of the leading Mennonite families of this section. Five children, Lulu, Pierce, Ellis, Victor and Luther, and one brother Conrad S. Heatwole of Dayton survive.
Otto Good passed away in his home near Harrisonburg after a long illness. Funeral services and burial were held at Weavers church Nov. 20. He served as a deacon in the Mennonites church and was a faithful supporter of the church and mission fields in various outposts. He leaves his wife, the former Anna Weaver of Waynesboro. Va., four children and several grandchildren.
