Death Overtakes Second Member of Family at Funeral.
Wayland, Ia., March 12. — The people were again shocked Monday afternoon by the sudden death of Dr. E. G. Rittler, dentist here for 32 years.
Dr. Rittler had experienced some discomfort at the funeral services of his sister, Emma Rittler, and as the funeral party left the house sat down on the steps of the Wittrig porch but soon recuperated sufficiently to walk to his car in company with Mrs. Rittler and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rittler. He drove their car and his brother Frank, who sat in the front seat with him and he didn't say anything on the way. When they got to where Fred Klopfenstein lives, east of Wayland, he suddenly slumped back in the seat.
The funeral services will be held at the Wayland Mennonite church Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock.
Miss Emma Rittler, who had been an invalid for nearly 26 years, suffered a paralytic stroke Tuesday, which left her in a state of coma until her death at 6 o'clock Friday morning, March 6, 1936.
The funeral service was held at the home of J. W. Wittrig at 1;30 p.m., on Monday. Rev. Elmer Basinger of Wayland and Rev. S. M. Musselman of Pretty Prairie, Kansas, conducted the service. — Wayland Times.
