WELL-KNOWN WAYLAND, IOWA RETIRED FARMER CALLED BY DEATH
Wayland, Iowa. — Funeral services for Arnold E. Rinner, well-known retired farmer here, were held Nov. 2 at the Wayland Mennonite Church. His pastor, Rev. L. A. Habegger, officiated.
Mr. Rinner died Oct. 30 at this age of 73. A native of Washington County, he was a life-long resident of this vicinity. He served his church as deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher, and church secretary, and more recently had helped to organize a Mennonite Aid group.

ARNOLD E. RINNER
Arnold E. Rinner was born in Washington County, Iowa, on Sept. 7,1884, the son of Andrew and Charlotte Zingg Rinner. He grew to manhood in the Center Methodist community northeast of Wayland.
One of Wayland's well known and greatly beloved elder citizens, he answered the final summons of his Maker at 9:30 a. m. Oct. 30, 1957. He had been in ill health for the past nine months.
On Feb. 21, 1912,he was united in marriage with Maybe Eicher. The couple made their first home in the Stringtown community for a year, then spent 32 years on the Hebel farm east of Wayland. In 1945 he purchased the Rinner home farm and the family lived there until 1954 when he and Mrs. Rinner retired to their home in Wayland.
Throughout life Mr. Rinner was a devoted Christian citizen. He was baptized in youth and united with the Center Methodist Church. Following his marriage he affiliated with his wife's church, the Eicher Emmanual [sic Emmanuel] Mennonite Church. In 1927 he and his family transferred their memberships to the Wayland Mennonite Church. Here he served faithfully until the time of his decease. In January 1957, he was elected to his fifth term as a deacon of the church.
In the past half year he encouraged the large group which joined in mutual sharing of the burdens of hardships through Mennonite Aid. He was representative for that group and assisted them in membership. During his long and varied service he held many offices; among them were Sunday School teacher, deacon, S. S. superintendent, assistant S. S. superintendent, and church secretary.
Bro. Rinner enjoyed a wide reading acquaintance. Historic materials were among his interests but his greatest interest was his Bible. Through his labors and Christian testimony her shared his vast storehouse of experience and knowledge.
Survivors include his sorrowing widow of the home; two sons and their wives, Marvin and Lu Rinner, Mt. Pleasant rural route, James and Esther Rinner, Denver, Colo.; a daughter and her husband, Mrs. Gertrude and Ben Boese, Moundridge, Kansas; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Benson, Brooklyn, N. Y., and Mrs. Emma Roberts, Washington, D. C.; two brothers, David of Austin, Minn., and Louis H. of Washington, Ia.,as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Wayland Mennonite Church on Nov.2, with Rev. Loris A. Habegger in charge. Interment was made in Center cemetery.
