• Funeral services for Mrs. Mary S. Richert, 82, widow of Henry P. Richert, were held Saturday forenoon at a McPherson funeral chapel and the Friedenstal Mennonite Church near Tampa. Rev. J. W. Bergen and Rev. Harvey Jantz officiated at the church. Mrs. Richert died Aug. 11 at McPherson County Hospital after a six-month illness. Brenton Richert of Newton is one of five surviving children. Other survivors, include five sisters, one brother, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

MARY (SCHULTZ) RICHERT

Mary (Schultz) Richert, daughter of Christian and Helen D. (Rediger) Schultz, died August 11, 1965 at the McPherson County, Kan. Hospital. She reached the age of 82 years, seven months and 12 days. She suffered a severe cerebral hemorrhage which resulted in her death, after having been in failing health for six months.

She was born Dec. 30, 1882 at Pawnee Rock, Kan. where she received her elementary education. On March 26, 1901 she was united in marriage to Henry P. Richert with whom she shared 58 years of wedded life, until his passing on Aug. 10, 1961. To this union were born four sons and three daughters. Two sons, Albert and Chester, and one grandson preceded her in death.

She was a kind and loving mother and wife concerned with our welfare. She helped wherever help was needed and spent many enjoyable hours piecing quilt tops and quilting, a hobby which she greatly enjoyed in later years.

In her early youth, on April 10, 1902, she was baptized by Rev. Peter Dirks. She joined the Friedenstal Mennonite Church by letter April 14, 1924, remaining a member until her death. During her last days she spent much time in prayer and expressed her deep desire to meet her Lord and Savior.

She leaves to mourn her death two sons, Brenton and wife Edith of Newton, Kan., and Emil and wife Effi [sic Effie] of Canton, Kan.; three daughters Dorothy and husband John Berg of Whitewater, Erma and husband Albert Erickson, Margie and husband Walter Johnson of McPherson, Kan.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; five sisters and one brother, Mrs. Eva Boese and Mrs. Susie Schmidt of Larned, Kan., Mrs. Tena [sic Tina] Nichols, Mrs. Lena Unruh and Mrs. Martha Koehn of Pawnee Rock, Kan. and Peter Schultz of Larned.
