SAMUEL S. RICHER
Samuel S. Richer, son of Christ. and Katherine (Lugbill) Richer, was born at Grabill, Ind. on April 3, 1887. He departed from this life on May 31, 1969 at his home in Wauseon, Ohio, having reached the age of 82 years, one month and 28 days. He had suffered a heart attack the months earlier, but had seemingly regained good health. His death came suddenly as the result of another attack.
He was married to Lucinda Aeschliman on March 30,1911 at Wauseon, Ohio. Three children, two sons and one daughter, came to bless this union. Samuel and Lucinda were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in 1961, and altogether they experienced the joys and sorrows of life for 58 years.
They moved to Fulton County, Ohio in 1914 where he was engaged in farming until his retirement in 1942, when he moved to Wauseon.
In his early youth he accepted Jesus as his Savior and became a member of the Mennonite Church. At the time of his death he was a faithful member of the North Clinton congregation where he was greatly appreciated by everyone. He had a talent for singing and served his church well in this capacity. He spent many happy times singing with all age groups in his home and in the church. His sincere Christian belief and faith in the teachings of Christ made life in the family, the church and the community a real joy, and will be a lasting satisfaction for us who remain.
He leaves to mourn his departure his loving companion; one daughter, Lucille of the home, who tenderly cared for her father in his illness; two sons, Harold and Orville, both of Wauseon, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, two half brothers, and four half sisters.
Funeral services were held at the North Clinton Mennonite Church in charge of Olen Nofziger. Interment was held in the Petttisville Cemetery.
