Ulises Alejandro Renderos, better known as "Lee," of Saltcoats, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully with his family around him on November 19, 2007, at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He was born in the same hospital to Carlos and Maritza Renderos almost eighteen years ago on March 22, 1990.

Deep trauma hit when he was nine months of age and his mother passed away, leaving him in the care of another family, whom he accepted as his own. The George and Mabel Penner family bonded permanently with him. He adapted quickly to his new family, which now included his father, a mother and dad, five brothers, and two sisters, to whom he would give a lifetime of unconditional love.

From Lee's beginning, he had complicated health issues he and his family battled with all his life. His problems never hindered him from excelling at anything mental or physical. Responsibilities, such as, his various jobs, health requirements, youth song leader, etc., were taken with diligence and a willingness to learn.

Lee's enthusiasm and joy in life were an inspiration to all, and his personality made him many friends. Many admired his ambition because what he set out to do usually lasted until success had been achieved. His motto seemed to be, "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might." As his health faded, he became willing to give his ambitions and life back to the Lord.

God granted Lee life for a special purpose, as he met many challenges. He surrendered his will to the Lord at a young age and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on May 15, 2005. He trusted his life to the Lord and accepted his health as one of life's obstacles. A close relationship with his Master was plain to see. Lee often expressed his care and concern in actions, poems, and words. He had a listening ear and often carred the burdens of others in his heart. His final words, "I love you. Te amo," were expressed before bedtime throughout his life.

During the last months of his life, Lee especially bonded with his sister, Carmen, as she played a special role in his emotional and physical care.

Expressed on Lee's behalf is a deep appreciation and gratitude for all the visits, faxes, texts, cards, thoughts, words of encouragement, and prayers from his host of friends, whom he is now waiting for. Family and friends thank God for sending Lee to us. Our hearts ache because he's gone, but we rejoice that he now has no more worry, sorrow, sickness, or pain.

Those left to cherish fond memories are his father, Carlos; his brothers: Edwardo, Saskatoon, Saskatchewna, and Juan Carlos and Claudia of Chile, South America; one sister, Kenny, El Salvador, Central America; one aunt, Maria and Jorge and their four children, Washington, D. C.; his foster parents, George and Mabel Penner, Saltcoats, Saskatchewan, and their children: Myron and Shelley, Whitehorse, Yukon Territory; Nathan and Holly, Saltcoats, Saskatchewan; Fred, Yorkton, Saskatchewan; Troy and Cathy, Taylor, British Columbia; Catherine and Tyson Unruh, Copeland, Kansas; and Carmen, Saltcoats, Saskatchewan; as well as nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

His mother and grandparents preceded him in death.

The funeral was held on November 24, 2007, at the Bredenbury Congregation, Saltcoats, Saskatchewan. Officiating were Min. Norman Wohlgemuth, Min. Laurel Wiebe, and Min. Marshall Toews. The burial was in the adjoining church cemetery.
