JOHN ISBRAND REMPEL

The son of Isbrand and Sara (nee Epp) Rempel, John Isbrand Rempel was born on December 18, 1892 in Sagradowka, South Russia. In the spring of 1922 he married Aganetha Loewen. He became very ill with malaria in 1925, and this led to a spiritual commitment by both of the Rempels. They were baptized and became members of the Orlofer Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church. After praying about emigration to Canada, the Lord opened the doors and they moved to Foxwarren, Manitoba in 1926. Here they farmed for 15 years .

Concern for their children led them to move to a small farm in Arnold, B.C. Twenty-five years later, in 1965 the Rempels retired to Clearbrook, B.C. Mrs. Rempel predeceased him in 1975, and he then moved to the Tabor Home.

On July 30 Mr. Rempel was taken to the M.S.A . Hospital. Surgery followed, but the Lord called him to his eternal home on August 23.

He leaves to mourn six sons, John, Peter, Jack, Gerhard, and Bill of British Columbia, and Nick of Buhler, Kansas; five daughters, Nettie (Mrs. Rudy) Dyck, Mary (Mrs. Walter) Neil, Anne (Mrs. Hans) Spenst, (Mrs.) Betty Crabtree, all of British Columbia, and Katie (Mrs. Eldred) Reimer of Linden, Washington; 33 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many friends.
