Rempel was born in South Russia on Feb. 1, 1890, and emigrated to Canada in 1923. |

He was an active member in the Conference of Mennonites in Canada, serving on various committees and as author of several German books. He succeeded David Toews as elder of the Rosenort congregations in the Rosthern, Sask., area. For many years he was principal of the Bible school in Rosthern.
He served the General Conference Mennonite Church as a member of the Peace Committee from 1938 to 1945 and of the Board of Publication from 1945 to 1953. He was editor of Der Kinderbote, a German-language story paper for children, from 1940 to 1957. He is also widely remembered to the States and Canada as writer on the German Sunday School lessons for conference churches.
Since his retirement, he and Mrs. Rempel had lived in Saskatoon.
