Mennonite Weekly Review obituary: 1931 Feb 4 p. 1
Birth date: 1854 Aug 19
text of obituary:
Peter Rempel, a pioneer settler of this community passed to his Eternal Reward Monday afternoon; the victim of diabetes, which had obtained a severe grip upon him. He had not been seriously ill, ad death came quickly.
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 1:30 o'clock from the First Mennonite church, of which he has been a member for years.
The deceased was born in South Russia on August 19, 1854. In 1875 he came to this country with his parents, settling here when Mountain Lake was just being settled. In 1878 he was married and eight children were born to the union, of whom seven are living. They settled on a farm near Mountain Lake, where they made their home until 1909, when they moved to Mountain Lake, where they have made their home since.
On May 2nd, 1928, Mr. and Mrs. Rempel observed their Golden Wedding anniversary, a truly joyous event.
