PETE REMPEL

Pete Rempel, son of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Rempel, was born on Jan. 25, 1935, at Meade, Kansas, and passed away to be with the Lord on May 31,1957, in the K. U. Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. He reached the age of 22 years, four months and six days.

At the age of 10 he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour, basing his salvation upon romans 10:9 and Acts 16:31. He was baptized upon his faith on May 28,1950, and received into the fellowship of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church of Meade.

He became ill when he was 11 years of age and was hospitalized in the Halstead Hospital where blood transfusions were given. His case was puzzling to the doctors then and has been since but he was given the best of medical care. During long intervals since he first became ill he was relatively well, being hospitalized only occasionally when blood transfusions were again needed. After 1953 he was definitely improved so that he could finish high school and go on to college. However, during the last while his health failed gradually until on May 10 he had to leave Tabor College to seek further medical aid in Minneola Hospital and then in Kansas City where he rather suddenly breathed his last on May 31 at 8:00 p. m.

On the way to Kansas City his father asked Pete whether he put his trust fully in the Lord and had the confidence that what God did was right. His answer was a definite "yes." The family, the church, the community, and the many friends have been blessed by his happy disposition, his radiant testimony for Christ, and his service for the Lord. his willingness and efficiency in serving in the church choir, male quartet, as teacher in vacation Bible school for several years, and otherwise will remain not only a fond memory but a challenge to all who knew him. Of particular joy to him and blessing to others was his singing ministry. It was his privilege and joy to sing in the Tabor choir again this year and thus accompany that group on its spring tour. He is still singing God's praises but with glorified lips in the very presence of the Lord whom he loved.

He leaves to mourn his early departure: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George J. Rempel; brothers and sisters, Margaret of Meade, Herman and wife Eva of Newton, Kansas, Will of Meade, John and wife Phyllis, Enid, Okla., Ed and wife Katherine, Topeka, Kansas, Walter, Eldon, Erma, Marilyn, Donald, Eileen, and Helen of the home, his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. P. F. Rempel, uncles and aunts, many cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pete will be greatly missed but the bereaved family knows he is happy in heaven. They sorrow but have the blessed hope of seeing him again "beyond the sunset and the weeping" where all God's children will be soon. — The Bereaved George J. Rempel Family.
