MARY REMPEL
Mary Zeiset Rempel was born to Nathaniel and Hannah Zeiset on June 22, 1920, at Chickasha, Oklahoma. She peacefully passed away on April 13, 2012, at Maplewood Manor, Steinbach, Manitoba, with her daughter by her side. She enjoyed good health most of her life, reaching the age of ninety-one years.
Mother gave her heart to the Lord at the age of eleven. Min. John A. Koehn baptized her into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on October 12, 1931. She loved the church and was faithful to her vows until the end.
On April 10, 1955, she married Abe Rempel of Rosenort, Manitoba. They had two children, Yolanda Mae Dyck and Bruce Rempel. Abe and Mary shared twenty-nine wonderful years of marriage until Abe's untimely death on November 27, 1984.
Our mother was energetic, cheerful and a caring lady, working well with people from all walks of life. This was shown during her many years in Mexico working as a nurse at the Camp 45 Mennonite Hospital in Chihuahua. We remember Mother as a very giving person, never complaining, always ready to help and do things for others. Her cheerful disposition won her many friends and made home an inviting place where each child, in-law, and grandchild felt loved and accepted. Mother was a homemaker at heart and enjoyed gardening and cooking. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. They have many wonderful memories of going for ice-cream, reading stories, singing, and cooking.
Those left to cherish precious memories are one daughter, Yolanda Dyck and Edgar Rossetti, Vancouver, British Columbia; and one son, Bruce Rempel and Louise Poersch, Rosenort, Manitoba. She also is survived by five grandchildren, along with seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, John and Inez Zeiset and Nathan Zeiset; two sisters, Nina Koehn and Johanna and Franklin Toews; two brothers-in-law, Nick and Matilda Rempel and Dave and Mary Lou Rempel, and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, her parents, three brothers, three sisters, three brothers-in-law, and four sisters-in-law predeceased her.
The funeral service was conducted on April 17, 2012, at the Rosenort Congregation, Rosenort, Manitoba. Officiating ministers were Dan Reimer, Jake Bartel, Melvin Penner, and Mark Hiebert. Interment followed in the adjoining church cemetery.
